Power
Lately, I've been thinking a lot about the idea of power.
Power can be defined as: ability to do or act; capability of doing or accomplishing something.
Currently, we are witnessing countless examples of power being used in ways that are harmful, destabilizing, and out of alignment.
This can feel both heavy, and out of our control.
That said, we each hold power too: power to decide how we show up, how we lead, how we treat others, and how we engage with our teams, our neighbors, and our communities.
We have power over our own word choice, and to speak with kindness and respect.
We have power to decide what we reinforce, or what we interrupt.
We have power to create a feeling of safety, rather than of fear, in the spaces that we are part of.
We have power to define our own values and commitments, and then to uphold them.
While we don't always have the ability to control how power is used on a national or international stage, we can use our own power to create something steady, something generative, and something good.
What do you think? Are there any examples of power being used for good that you've witnessed recently?
