Pollo Verde Happy Day

The other night, we ordered dinner from our favorite local taco shop. When I took my dinner out of the bag, I smiled when I encountered the following message written on the container:

“Pollo Verde Happy Day .”

In all of the time that we have ordered dinner from this restaurant, I have never received any sort of custom message on my to-go box. It brought both a smile and a chuckle.

As is often the case, it reminded me that sparking a feeling of joy does not need to be complicated, time intensive, or expensive. Here, it simply involved a Sharpie and a quick 10-second message written on the box.

It could be:

  • Adding a fun team photo or an impactful quote to the slide deck for our all-hands meeting.

  • Sending a postcard to someone we care about, from our summer vacation destination (or, perhaps just from our favorite gift shop or bookstore down the road).

  • Remembering (or writing down) our friends' and team members' go-to coffee (or snack) orders, so we can easily bring them a little something if we have the opportunity to do so.

  • Keeping things in perspective when we encounter a challenge at work, and helping others do the same.

Life can feel busy, with many things competing for our attention and energy.

What can it look like to find, and create, little moments of brightness and levity amidst the everyday?
