A Blue Roller Bag!

“And, a blue roller bag!”

I was recently on a flight where our bags were gate-checked. The plane was small, and prior to boarding, the agent repeatedly said over the loud speaker:

“Please do not attempt to put your roller bags in the overhead bin.

They. Will. Not. Fit!!!!!”

Message received!

After the flight, the bags were unloaded at the bottom of the tarmac, on the end closest to the plane. The problem with this configuration was that the tarmac was slanted downward toward the plane, which meant that all of the bags ended up in a little hidden crevice, where none of the passengers could see which bag had been unloaded.

Midway through this (not-so-efficient) process, one of the passengers —a gentleman who was likely about 6'2" —started picking up the bags, one by one, and holding them up on display for the waiting group of passengers.

 “We have a GREEN suitcase!”

“We have a BLACK suitcase with a purple tag!”

“We have a RED suitcase!”

“And, another GREEN suitcase!”

He enthusiastically held up each bag and shouted out the descriptor, which allowed each of the roller bags to be reunited with its owner. This was especially helpful after a flight that was running late, where a lot of people had tight connections.

It was a simple, kind, creative, and joyful gesture that was helpful to his fellow passengers on the plane. . . and brought smiles and a few chuckles to everyone in line.

Similar to what we have explored together via Friday Favorites, it was a simple gesture that made a number of people's lives easier.

And, it was a total day maker

Have you encountered any unexpected day makers lately?

Or any creative solutions to challenges or annoyances that you've faced at work, or in life?
